Every Saturday evening of the summer (until weather proves uncomfortable), Cinespia film society screens a classic film on a mausoleum wall at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Picnic behaviour is encouraged, allowing a relaxed atmosphere of food and drink. It's a lovely experience being able to sit under the stars, drink booze and see a classic film.
Last summer, I had the pleasure of seeing the greatest film of the 20th century: 'Pee-wee's Big Adventure.' It was excellent. It drew an enthusiastic crowd, comprised of both adults and children, and sold out. The greatest moment was finding out that people had brought tequila for the biker bar scene.
Last week, upon learning that it would play again this year, I began emailing friends, and oddly enough enemies as well, to
assemble a group to go together. I also came to a realization. If an invitee did not have a previous engagement or a reasonable excuse not to attend and was not attending, they were no friend of mine. I view a lack of interest in this film as a major character flaw.

This is the best shot I could get of a father, dressed like Pee-wee, who had ridden to the screening on a bike with his son in a sidecar. I only hope I am this great of a dad.

Chelsea and Jason. Jason points out the fact that they were late by pretending to point out the fact that they were early.
Fired.

Just before the movie played, none other than Paul Reubens himself came out to introduce the film.

He was joined by a few cast members shortly after.
